‘William Blake : Letters from Paradise’

A Theatrical Rendition by Kenneth Jay

A unique and lively theatrical celebration of William Blake’s sublime poetry and prose , on our traditional gathering at Bunhill Fields to mark the anniversary of his death. Poet, painter and visionary, Blake stands as one of England’s national treasures, yet his written works are rarely recognized for their innate theatricality. This is a rare opportunity to experience the richness and immediacy of his writing woven between the dissenting gravestones of Bunhill Fields. A native Canadian, Kenneth trained at Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto and appeared in that city in excitingly diverse productions. He relocated to the UK in 1983, and since then has performed all over the country in a wide variety of productions and festivals, as well as West End shows. Kenneth headed an international cast in The Imaginary Invalid for Theatre of Eternal Values (TEV) which toured Europe, and has also had several appearances in film and TV. He has been passionately interested in William Blake for over 20 years. His dream has been to bring the power of this great man’s work to the stage, and is currently developing a diverse and fascinating one-man show using only Blake’s words.
