A unique opportunity to possess a chipping from the Gravestone of William Blake

Good news! We have now raised all the substantive funding for making the Gravestone and received all the official permissions to go ahead with the commission.

in celebration, 100 off-cuts from the grave stone will be made by the Cardozo Kindersley Workshop, boxed, numbered, and signed by stone carver Lida Cardozo, who will be carving Blake’s own stone.

There will only be one opportunity to obtain a link to the most intimate memorial to William Blake. Only 100 of these chippings will ever be made. Once the stone is complete the remaining parts of the block will be broken up and buried under the grave stone itself.

The Blake Society has been able to obtain these mementos and is offering them as a token of thanks to those who make a donation of at least £45 to the Grave fund (£50 outside the UK and Ireland, to cover postage). The chippings will be made available on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

This fund will enable us to ensure that there is a fitting event to accompany the unveiling of the stone on 12th August 2018.

The chippings themselves will be produced early next year. We will acknowledge receipt of your donation and keep you informed when the boxes are ready for sending.

We very much hope you will wish to support the final stage of our work to place a memorial on Blake’s grave, and that you will appreciate this small part of his history.
