2011 Blake Society Tithe Grant
The Blake Society Executive Committee is pleased to announce the beginning of the 2011 Tithe Grant. Applications will be accepted from April 30 until 11:59 p.m. GMT on July 30, 2011. Applications may be submitted via email (tithegrant@blakesociety.org) or via post (The Blake Society, ℅ St James’s Church 197 Piccadilly London W1J 9LL). The amount of this year’s Tithe Grant is £609.10.
Application Process: Applications should take the form of a letter (250 words) explaining the need for funding, and how the Tithe Grant funding will be used. There are no restrictions on the possible uses for the funding. Applications will be judged on their project’s relevance to William Blake, clarity of vision, and viability.
Regulations and Restrictions: Membership in the Blake Society is not required to apply for the grant. There are no restrictions on residence or education level — anyone who seeks to further Blake’s vision may apply, whatever their citizenship or qualifications. The only condition of acceptance is that the recipient provide an account of his/her project, and the use of funds, to be published in a future issue of the Blake Journal.
Timeline: The recipient of the grant will be announced in late September or early October of 2011. In the event of an exceptionally rich pool of applicants (or at the discretion of the committee), we may ask a small group of finalists to provide contact information for two references who can speak to any of the following qualities: a) perseverance b) experience and previous work in areas related to the project. Grant funds will be transmitted via check or wire transfer. The Blake Society will absorb the cost of wire transfer and currency conversion fees.
